The latest in cervical spine disc replacement surgery with sleek artificial mobile discs

When cervical discs get worn or if they’re damaged through injury/trauma, in many instances they can be replaced with artificial mobile discs such as the one shown here (Mobi-C). This particular prosthesis is my preferred choice, and my patient-reported outcomes with this have been overwhelmingly excellent thus far. I have put in many of these as part of single or double-level cervical surgeries.

These discs do have key long term evidence-based advantages over a standard “fusion” using a “cage” or bulky plates, rods and screws:

  1. ENHANCED / PRESERVED NECK MOBILITY
  2. REDUCED “ADJACENT-SEGMENT” DISEASE

I follow 10 key steps in this surgery, and those steps are described and shown in this brief less-than-4-minute video. I hope you enjoy this educational presentation. Exciting times in the field of joint replacement surgery, this time for ailing necks!
